Wherefore should the heathen say,
"Where is thy God?
They gather themselves together
Against the soul of the righteous,
And condemn the innocent blood.
Oh! Let Him be known!
For He shall redeem their soul
From deceit and violence:
And precious shall their blood be,
In His boundless sight.
Behold! Ye men of renoun;
The Lord cometh out of His Place,
To punish the inhabitants of the earth,
For disruption and iniquity:
The earth shall disclose her blood,
And shall no more cover her slain.
Then shall the righteous rejoice,
When he seeth the vengeance:
He shall wash his feet
In the blood of the wicked.
