The Bough

The bough,
That breaks in the storm;
May bloom briefly,
In the spring rains;
But its tender blossoms,
Will soon wither;
And the bough perish:
For there is no life;
Apart from the root.

Which is
Is a darkness,
That can be felt;
A blackness,
That terrifies.

Light is Given

Light is given,
To him that is in misery;
And life,
To the bitter in soul:
For His Light;
Is as a Fountain of Life;
And His love,
As a cloud,
Of the latter rain.

So finely intertwined,
Are the body and soul;
That withersoever,
There is obscuration of one;
There is certain to be,
Perversion in the other.

The labors
Of the foolish,
Weary the soul;
They seek to quench
A raging thirst,
By lifting,
With open hands,
To their own lips,
A golden cup,
That is empty.

The bride in Yahweh,
And Yahweh in the bride;
Messiah in the lamb,
And the Lamb in Messiah;
Christ in the mercy seat,
And the mercy seat in Christ;
Yeshua in the light of Shekinah,
And the Light of Shekinah in Him,
Who is the brightness
Of Jehovah's glory:
The waters of the nether,
And the Upper springs,
Must mingle, and flow together;
We must not separate
The shadow from the substance;
The visible from the invisible:
What God hath joined;
Man cannot put asunder.

The Rending of the Vail

    I have heard it argued, with some force and certainty, that the rending of the temple vail, was the Promise fleeing from the children of Jacob: that Israel, and all that was his, were henceforth cut off from the God of their fathers. As my great grandmother would have said "poppy cock!" It is not so! On this, God's Word is clear; and His promises to Abraham true: He did not, has not, and will not abandon Israel. The rending of the veil was not the announcement of a Divine curse; it was the proclaimation of the glorious fulfillment of His Word; for the promise inherent in the vail - access unto God - had at last been secured and realised in the sacrifice of His Pascal Lamb for the sin of all. In the rending we realise the possibilities of direct access to Almighty God; and the release of these possibilities outward to the world at large. That grace that can flow only by means of blood, empowered by His pent-up love litterally exploded through the vail in His outward rush to bring reconciliation and healing to all who would come. This great event marks the fulfillment of all His promises; not the revocation of them!

Horatius Bonar

"In Him was manifested divine strength, residing in and working through a feeble human arm such as ours: divine wisdom, in its perfection, speaking through the lips of a child of dust; divine majesty seated on a human brow; divine benignity beaming from human eyes, and put forth in the touch of a human hand; divine purposes working themselves out through a human will; divine sovereignty embodied in each act and motion of a human organism; divine grace coming forth in human compassions and sympathies; and divine grief finding vent to itself in human tears."

Horatius Bonar

The Tree

The tree,
Separated from its roots;
And the flower,
Broken at the stem;
Are fitting emblems,
Of the man;
Dissevered from God

Worship Is Life

Worship is life:
A marraige of willingness;
The willingness of Sovereignty,
United with that of submission;
Of Love bonded to love;
Momemt by moment,
Breath, after breath.

It is a celebration
Of His glory and fulness:
Of faith unto faith,
And hope unto fruition;
A confluence of heart and Spirit,
Merging into oneness,
On the common ground of Light.

The House of Redemption?

Oh thou that art named,
The House of Redemption;
Is the Spirit of the Lord
To be hemmed and straitened?
Are these His doings?
Your suasions of life,
Are but transitory murmers:
The blank misgivings,
Of diminished minds,
Moving with inconstancy;
In worlds not realised.
Behold, the Lord's hand,
Is not shortened,
That it cannot save;
Neither His ear heavy,
That it cannot hear:
Your iniquities,
Are as a wall of separation;
And your perversions,
Have hid His face from you,
That in your hour of despair,
He may not hear.

For Him Only

Whoever seeks God as a means toward desired ends will not find God. The mighty God, the maker of heaven and earth, will not be one of many treasures, not even the chief of all treasures. He will be all in all or He will be nothing. God will not be used. His mercy and grace are infinite and His patient understanding is beyond measure, but He will not aid men in their selfish striving after personal gain. He will not help men to attain ends which, when attained, usurp the place He by every right should hold in their interest and affection.

The teaching of the Bible is that God is Himself the end for which man was created. "Whom have I in heaven but thee?" cried the psalmist, "and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee" (Psa. 73: 25) . The first and greatest commandment is to love God with every power of our entire being. Where love like that exists there can be no place for a second object. If we love God as much as we should surely we cannot dream of a loved object beyond Him which He might help us to obtain.

In the heart of man,
Is planted the thought;
The consciousness of eternity,
And the longing after it.

Other creatures are content,
Immersed it their time;
We bespeak another nature:
Disturbed by a thought,
Which shines high above
The roaring sea of circumstance,
In which we float.

When we say, eternity flows,
Around this bank,
Or that shoal of time;
Men know what we mean:
Heart answers unto heart;
And, silently, in each heart,
Lies that solemn thought:
Forever .......

It is a primal thought,
Deep in the soul of men:
A consciousness;
Outside the bounds of time;
Wherein we seek a beauty,
Beyond all that is lovely;
That draws us willingly unto God.

The Natural Man

The natural man,
Is a premonitory shiver;
Gauntly gliding into doom:
A colorless spectre,
On a mortal march,
Into the nightwatch;
All the while,
Deluding himself,
In the conceit,
Of his own vitality.

A Thought On The Tuscon Massacre

I was reading more about this attack this morning when I noticed something that made the hair on that back of my neck stand up: it is probably meaningless; but that little girl who was killed yesterday, was born on 9/11/2001. It is almost as if her young life marked the passing stage of God's redemptive plan; she was born on the day the world changed forever for America, and her death, in this savage attack, could well mark the beginning of a new stage; when government takes off the gloves and brings the hammer down. I know that this is probably nothing more than the ramblings of an old fool with too much time to think; but I sure would like to hear Zeph" opinion on this (& Bro T's too), as I know that they do not believe in pure coincidence or luck (as I do not either); rather, that all things are a part of His plan, and that no life comes and goes without notice or purpose.

I do not believe that this is an isolated incident, and I sure would like to hear all of your reactions to this.

Praise unto God:
Is the primal breathing,
Of a spirit in love;
The mark and symptom,
Of a devoted life;
The song, and oblation,
Of a heart and soul,
Ascending, upon the wings
Of His marvelous grace,
To the very Throne of God.

In A Flash

It came in a flash;
A vision of that infinite instant:

A thousand preachers;
Shouting, prancing, dancing,
In meaningless gyrations,
Before a vested horde:
Yet their lips moved not;
Nor was made a sound,
Save the wind.

Then a word did I hear:
Their lips are closed,
Because their eyes are blind;
Their tongues are dumb,
Because their ears are deaf.
There is no life in their mouth,
Because death is in their hearts:
For the greatness of the sin;
Proceeds from the greatness
Of His love;
Whom they have offended.

The Word of the Spirit,
Will not return unto Him Void.

The Love Of God

The Love of God:
Is the abyss of wonders;
The center of desires;
The house of wisdom;
And the Throne of Light:
It is root and yield,
Of all happiness;
And the Glory of God,
That draws unto Heaven.

Eternal Truth

Is an organ of knowledge;
Through faith,
Do we understand:
The things which are seen,
Were not made,
Of things which do appear;
Through faith:
Does the voice of Wisdom
Declare unto us:
All things were framed,
By the Word of God:
The Living Eternal Truth;
Who became flesh,
To dwell among us;
And that Eternal Truth,
Delivers men.

Podcast 13 Is Now Up

Podcast 13: Be Still And Know That I Am God,

is now up at:

With a special musical appearance by Linda Rose.

Give it a listen.

Podcast 13 Show Notes

Be Still and Know That I Am God

1 – Greeting

2 – Explain absence: Work, traffic, holidays, schedule

3 – Opening Reading ------- Still and Silently

4 – There are times and places in life where we need to speak-up and take action

a – In our lives as citizens fighting the encroaching evil and
corruption that we see everywhere in both public and
private life

b – As lambs – believers – while involved in God's work
according to the task or call He has lain on each of us

c – At prayer, through petition, praise, and standing against
the enemy in spiritual warfare

5 – There are other times, when it is just as important to be still,
and silently reflect, and prayerfully meditate on Almighty God,
and on His presence in our lives

a – We are encouraged, even commanded repeatedly in His
Word to take time to consider God, and to quietly ponder
His ways; that we may come to know Him intimately, and have life – for knowing God intimately, from within,
absolutely requires spending time regularly with Him, in
abject silent surrender and an eager expectant quietude

b – Just a few Scriptures – all from only the Book of Psalms -
will demonstrate the point - & can be found throughout

His Word

1 – Commune with your own heart upon your bed,
and be still (Psa. 4)

2 – When I remember Thee upon my bed, and meditate
on Thee in the night watches (Psa. 63)

3 – I will meditate also on all Thy works (Psa. 77)

4 – And lastly, from Psalm 46:10 -
“Be Still, and Know that I am God”

6 – Second reading: Spiritual Serenity

7 – I don't know any details of your prayer lives; but I do know that
in some of the best – most comforting & productive times of
prayer & communion with God that I have ever experienced -
I never uttered a word past Oh God – as I collapsed, silent
& prostrate before the Throne

a - Closing my ears to the distractions – no matter how sweet
the music

b – Not berating the world for all its ills; and its treatment of me

c - Not crying for the desires of the heart

d – Simply waiting expectantly & resting profoundly in His
warm & loving presence – to learn of Him

8 – His Word glides gently across my spirit – commanding obedience:
Be Still And Know That I Am God
& as I wait quietly – yet eagerly & expectantly – He stills the will

& the heart with His presence that my spirit may bask in &
drink in the wonder & majesty of God – who He is – what He
has done - & His desires for my life

9 – Oh my friends – can you not see – it is here, in our quiet solitude
with God that our focus on Him is restored & renewed - & the next step in our walk, & our work in Him is laid out before us, &
within us

a – This is absolutely critical; for the focus of the believer -
all lambs of God – must be directly on Him, & being in His
presence – Doing with God; not simply for God

b – We must be a “Mary” who put all else aside to sit quietly
at the feet of our Lord

c – Rather than a “Martha” who was constantly running to and
fro to do everything just right for Him – at the expense of
the very relationship she claims to cherish

d – Lambs REQUIRE, & thoroughly enjoy basking quietly in
the warmth of God's love, & they delight in His presence

e – Though it is true that all lambs have their tasks and calling
in service to our Lord, as He individually calls us & it is also
that we are diligent in all our efforts – our first work, always,
is the work of adoring, praising, worshiping, and knowing
Almighty God

1 – We must first see all of life as an opportunity for
developing deeper communion with God – our risen

2 – We must continue always to grow in His intimacy &

in His knowledge – for it is life – as He is life – both
within Himself, & within us

3 – And we must all come to understand that this stillness
before the Living God is not something that can be -
or should be – rushed into, or hurried out of – we must
devote ourselves to it, if we would benefit from &
rest in it

10 – Third reading: Soaking Prayer

11 – The Lord is looking for – searching & seeking for – deep,
fulfilling, intimate relationships with all believers

a – But His children are – all too often – caught-up & diverted
into the rat-race of doing – sometimes to the exclusion of
knowing Him who called us to do!

b - His purpose for each of us includes giving us everything
we need for the walk He has called us to

1 - But our GREATEST NEED is simply HIM!

2 - Just being in Him -- quietly & thoroughly in Him;
that He be thoroughly in us

3 - As the evangelist once said -- our end is simple; all
we have to do is show-up & shut-up - our Father will
do all the rest - He will do all the heavy lifting

4 - He will fill your heart & spirit with strength, love,
awe, & amazement - this is His promise & the testimony
of all who have gone before us

5 - We must practice the patience of the Spirit here,
however, - God's timetable & ours are quite probably
two different animals entirely - He is in no rush - & we
usually are

12 - My friends, I cannot over-stress the message here:

a - Silent solitude with God is an absolute necessity

b - Without it; intimacy with God simply will not happen

c - As our spirits become saturated in the fullness of the Living
God - as we quietly gaze upon the Lord's glory with unveiled
faces - we are ourselves transformed from glory to glory
into His image & we become truly reborn into His Spirit in
reality & experience, as well as name - even while we are yet
encombered within this humble, broken body

13 - The cares, anxieties, & stresses of life are lifted from us as we
enter into a lifestyle of regular silent soaking prayer with Yahweh

a - Our hearts & lives are restless & whiplashed - & our spirits
atrophy & die within us unless they rest in Him

b - True peace - any kind of meaningful peace - without Him,
is unknowable

c - All our work - all work for that matter - for His Kingdom,
is a lie & a fraud if we do not take the time to know Him
who has sent us
d - Wolves, harlots, and hirelings live on & perennate on only
the tasks at hand, for they serve a different master - lambs live
only through union with the Living Shepherd

14 - To all believers & lambs that hear my voice, understand the
message He has laid on my heart tonight - your life & your
healing is in this quiet submission at the Master's feet - your
abundance & every need - the answers to life's questions - are
to be found in solitude with the Lord - all that we long for is to be
found here in the stillness of our own hearts before God - it's as
near as your next breath & you don't have to sweat & strive for it:

15 - Simply: ------- Be Still and Know That He Is God!!
