The Assembled

Hallucignosis in lieu of the Lord;
....... A bitter exchange .......
Having lost sight of God
Amid the wonders of His Word;
They have laid - low the altar,
And divided the sacrifice into parts;
Being satisfied to count the stones,
And rearrange the pieces,
With never a care - or even a notice -
That there is no sign of Fire
At the summit of holy Carmel:
The radiant wonder is no more.
Thirsting before the Fountain;
Dissembling a pale cuisine:
The hungry look up and remain unfed:
Starving at the Father's table,
While He who would suckle and sustain
Stands and knocks at the door,
Through which He was excused.
