The Fearful

The fearful pray,
Driven by need;
Rather than,
Kindled by grace:
Their prayer,
Is but a cry
Into the unknown;
Not a hymn,
To the Risen Savior;
It is a quest
For treasure;
Not a walk
Of fellowship.
It sputters,
More than it fires:
Denying the very power
It seeks;
For they know
The Father,
Only by the precepts
Of men;
Not by the surrender
Of life.
