Logan pastor accused of sex with 13-year-old

[These kind of incidents constantly confirm all that Zeph and others have said about the organized church, and the path to advancement within these organizations. That being said, I still find this to be physically nausiating, and a spiritual slap in the face. However, the real body blows (and I do feel them, as do many of you) come from the comments made that revile and heap abuse upon our Lord every time one of these soul-less bastards gets uncovered. The very ones who led this man into his living oblivion will now lead in the supposed outrage -- in between their own escapades of course; all the while, acting pious and concerned. The Lord rebuke them and all their minions for the shame and reproach these churchians bring upon our Lord and His real lambs. I am so offended and angered in the spirit that I am physically shaking as I am up writing this at 4 in the morning. "How long, Oh Lord, how long."] -- MY COMMENTARY

Logan pastor accused of sex with 13-year-old

The youth pastor at a southeastern Ohio church has been charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in the congregation.

Travis J. Branstetter, 30, of Logan, was arrested yesterday and charged with three counts each of sexual battery and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, each third-degree felonies punishable by up to five years in prison, Hocking County Sheriff Lanny North said.

He is being held in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. Hocking County Municipal Court Judge Pauline O’Neill set the bond at a hearing today, a court spokeswoman said.

Branstetter is accused of sexually assaulting the girl between November and February while he was youth pastor at the Logan Church of the Nazarene, according to the sheriff’s office incident report.

Branstetter, who is an ordained minister, was the church’s youth pastor for five years until February, Pastor Tom Gates said today. Gates declined to comment further.

“We need to pray for all the parties involved and for our church,” he said.

The church typically has Sunday attendance of about 250 people, he said.

Logan is about 50 miles southeast of Columbus.
