It Has Happened Before!

The war of the angels;
That great collision
Of the heavens,
Is come down to earth.
It has happened before:

 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void;
And the heavens, and they had no light.
I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled,

 And all the hills moved lightly.

  I beheld, and, lo, there was no man,

 And all the birds of the heavens were fled.

  I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness,

 And all the cities thereof were broken down

 At the presence of the LORD,

 And by his fierce anger.



As the stormcloud

Gathers on the horizon;

So come the deathless ones,

From the murky land,

Of merciless bonds,

Behind the outer gates

On the Mount of Chill Doom.

Now with fixed purpose,

And deliberate council

Unto deadly strife,

They stir up heated battle.


On that day,

A day of blood and fire;

They launched

Their grievous shafts,

Cries, shouts, and mighty hooves

Echoed across the land,

As they met

With a great battle cry.


Filled with fury,

From Heaven He came,

Hurling His lightning:

Thick and fast the bolt flew,

Whirling in awesome flame.

The life - giving earth

Crashed around in agony;

And the vast woodland,

Crackled loud,

With fire all about.

The living land seethed,

And the seas shimmered with heat:

Hot vapors lapped the sky;

Flames unspeakable, rose

To the bright upper air,

 In the flashing glare

Of thunder stones.

Heaven and earth

Came together;

And the earth

Was hurled to ruin,

In a mighty crash.



"And the earth

Was without form, and void;

And darkness,

Was on the face of the deep."



The war of the angels;

That great collision

Of the heavens,

Is now come down to earth,

My friends;

It has happened before,
